hopefully they explain next chapter why he hates monsters so badly
-He was born extremely ugly but with a good heart so he thought “id i cant be beautiful i can at least do good” and strove for justice
-he hated his ugliness and pushed himself so far that he evolved to be beautiful as his monsterization
essentially, he wants to be a great hero and monsters are the enemy, he hated his looks so much that it pushed him to be a hero dude basically merged his feeling about his original appearance and justice into one because now he IS a monster which is sortof in place of his ugliness
this is also why he was a gatekeeper, if you didnt have what it takes he couldnt allow you yo become S class as that would reflect poorly on the image of heroes
