past few chapters have just been [Fight] -> [Brink of Winning] -> [Brink of Losing] -> [Cliffhanger where they show the MC supposedly about to lose] -> [Repeat this cycle in successive chapter]
yeah its been like this for a while but they gotta edge you for the next chapter true it gets boring over time but you still get good chapters even if they are similar
i see this as something similar to the Netflix “write for people that arent watching” mandate. the author or the author’s publisher wants to hook the most low attentions-pan readers out there so every chapter needs it’s own hook so they can keep hooking readers. this results in 1/3 of the panels being relegated to to fluff, sometimes well drawn fluff, but fluff nonetheless.
like this isnt a cool enough enemy, the girl is in the way, and MC isnt going all out because even if he sounds like he is he’s still holding back for because of said girl and the writer doesnt want to have MC dump ass on this guy like he realistically should because they’re gonna pull BS to get out of this fail state (i 100% doubt the vault opening is all that’s gonna happen to stop this guy)
