had a few comments from the old Disquis system way back but to boil it down, the author REALLY thinks that having the lingering will of MC’s body is some novel concept when it’s basically just a means to force or guilt MC into actually caring about relevant characters in the story because MC is honestly a wish-washy a-hole when it comes to actually interacting with people that dont expressly serve him.
a lot of the problems he starts facing a born of his unwillingness to actually invest in things letting the world swing him around without issue and then when complications arise he monologues about if he should act when it doesnt take a rockets scientist to understand that he often does need to act because the alternative fcks him over later down the line… and the hesitation to do what’s obvious leads to the creation of other problems
like the body’s love interest was a shitty person but after a certain point she’s basically turned into a punchingbag because the author needs her to remain around the MC for that dynamic to have an emotional payoff but to do that she cant be allowed to succeed at ANYTHING

I had to read up to ch 45 to really get this review, but now I completely agree. MC is really frustrating. Despite having near complete foreknowledge of the games events, he kinda just passively exists the whole time. It starts with him taking over a background character caus he couldn’t be bothered to make a character and instead chose random. Then it seems like for most of the whole rest of the manga he kinda ‘disassociates’ and just coasts through events trying to exist as ‘Butao’ in the pointless hope that it doesn’t change the canon story-line. Because he’s ‘supposed to be Butao’, even if he COULD create a better social image or alter situations to be positive, he instead just sits around until events inevitably deteriorate into even worse outcomes. MC’s mentality is also pretty supect. He’s a grown man who talked about having pride being a notorious pker and being one of the strongest in full motion VR the game; yet now that hes in it he instantly adopted the “I’m an pacifist little Japanese boy” character trait. He struggles with not liking conflict or harming people and when he does defending his self he uses expensive potions to heal the people who just threatened harm to life and limb to him and his family…
The game that became his reality is supposed to be an MMORPG but for some reason seems to have a main story-line that plays out like a high school drama visual novel. The high school itself is also intentionally literally ONLY a detriment to the potential of a huge percentage of its students, but not once does any character even seem to consider that they would be better off dropping out or changing schools to pursue becoming an adventurer on their own despite there already being examples.
tldr – I was exited because it seemed one of the few manga/manhwa that tried to take this cliche seriously but its mostly just an exercise in frustration. Read almost 50 chapters and there was like 1 cool moment.
