Actually the translator did use it 100% correctly here. While using terms like “sirs” or “dames” had been more normalized when writing correspondence letters, it was not oft spoken aloud when directly addressing a group of individual knights (it COULD be used, but it was rare, and has long since been outdated). Thus when addressing multiple (two or more) male knights, the proper term to use is “gentlemen”, and the feminine equivalent “ladies” for female knights (as took place in the chapter).
